Son of Carmine Casale who resided in Hartford, Connecticut.

John served as a Electrician's Mate Third Class, U.S.S. Miantonomah (CMc-5), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

The U.S.S. Miantonomah departed from Cherbourg, France with a destination of Le Havre, France with a load of supplies that had been liberated.

In the harbor at Le Havre the Miantonomah hit one and possibly two mines which cause her to rapidly sink taking 58 officers and crewmen.

John was "Killed In Action" from this sinking during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
