Son of James Leon "Lon" Cashion and Permilia Catherine "Katie" Blake of Fannin Co., Texas.

He married Clyde Virginia Jones Jan. 25, 1918 in Trinity, Trinity Co., Texas. They had two children - Ross Blake Cashion Jr. and Virginia Lou "Genalou" Cashion.

He was a veteran of WWI, serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in France when Armistice was announced.

Early in his career he worked for the MK&T (Missouri Kansas and Texas) Railroad, also known as the Katy, in Trinity and Waco, Texas, and the family story goes that this is how he met his future wife, Clyde Jones - on a train. In the early 1920s he apprenticed with his wife's uncle, D.W. Smith, in Merryville, Louisiana to become a druggist.

His obituary from The San Jacinto News Times, March 22, 1979, page 8:

"Ross B. Cashion of Coldspring, aged 85, passed away March 12, 1979, in Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

"Mr. Cashion was born in Bonham, Texas, on April 2, 1893. He moved his family to Coldspring in early 1938 and established Cashion's Pharmacy at that time. His wife, Clyde Cashion, pre-deceased him in 1960.

"In early 1978 he received his 50 year certificate as an active pharmacist from the Texas Pharmaceutical Association. He retired on May 1, 1978.

"He was a member of the Coldspring Methodist Church and Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #37 in Coldspring.

"Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe L. McMurrey of Coldspring; a son, Ross B. Cashion, Jr., of New Orleans; one sister, Mrs. Lois Cox of Bonham, Texas; four grandchildren: Joan McMurrey Lane of Dallas, Bill McMurrey of Charlotte, N.C., Jennifer Cashion of Austin, Marilyn Cashion Matthews of Houston, and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

"Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or Coldspring Methodist Church Building Fund.

"Services were held at Coldspring Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13.

"Pallbearers were M.D. Trapp, Jr., Robert Hill Trapp, James Sewell, Woodrow Smith, Frank McMurrey, and K.P. Bryant.

"Honorary pallbearers were Julian McMurrey, Harry Clark, Harry McMurrey, George L. Phillips, Dr. L.G. Davison, Henry Reese, M.C. Jones, Robert Atkins, John Yelverton, Mack Ferguson, J.B. Anderson, Dr. S.P. McMurrey, L.V. Fitzgerald, Lester Atkinson, Dr. Paul McLean, Leroy Dabney, Noel C. Baker, Robert Johnson and Lloyd Bryant."
