Dates of Military service: March 30, 1916-September 3, 1918
He enlisted , at Honesdale, PA as a Private in Company E of the 13th Infantry Reg't PANG on March 30, 1916.
His physical description was given as 5ft, 10 3/4 in, fair complexion with brown eyes and black hair.
He was called up for federal service on September 26, 1916 and his unit was sent to El Paso, Texas, resulting in a tedious tour of duty at Camp Stewart to quell border raids on the Mexican boarder. On March 21,1917, the border duty for the 13th terminated. He was awarded The Mexican Service Medal # 5913.
On August 5, 1917 he was again called up for federal service in World War I as a Corporal with Company E, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, U.S. Army, American Expeditionary Forces.
