Franklin Willis Adams, Sr. was in the Civil War. He enlisted on 04 January 1864 at Neenah, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. He was a Private in Company "G" of the 3rd Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers. He was mustered out with his company on 18 July 1865 near Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Record of his service is on file at The State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Franklin Willis Adams, Sr. was married three times, viz: 03 July 1871 at Circleville (town no longer exists), Tazewell County, Illinois to Rachel Elizabeth McCullough. After Rachel died in 1884, he married second to Mrs. Margaret "Maggie" Jones Devoll in Peoria, Illinois on 25 May 1896. After Margaret died in 1907, he married third to Mrs. Ellen Paschon Leigraf on 07 Apr 1915 in Peoria, Illinois. Franklin had three children by Rachel, three children by Margaret, and no children by Ellen.
