James R. Donnell passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2010. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. James was born June 15, 1929, in Fort Worth to Reuben and Linnie Donnell. He loved baseball. He remembered fondly the early Fort Worth Cats teams coached by Rogers Hornsby and Bobby Bragan, and could recall the box score of many of their Texas League games. James was a Texas Rangers season ticket holder in the 1970s, and participated in many team luncheons and events. James was a devoted fan of early Western B-movies and television shows. He compiled an impressive collection of 16mm films, videotapes and DVDs. He enjoyed a long career downtown at First National Bank, and was active in "The Clock" retirees' club. As he walked his life's journey, James collected scores of friends and acquaintances who loved him and will miss him dearly. A special thanks to the staff of Baylor All Saints and Vitas for their gentle care and attention during his last days. James was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Donnell and Linnie Vee McSpadden of Corsicana; and longtime friends, Elmo and Linnie Johnston, of Fort Worth.
