George served as a Sergeant, Company H, 1st Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He enlisted in the 1st Delaware on August 2, 1861 for a 3 year term. He was noted as being 29 years old, a carpenter, and residing in Wilmington, Delaware.

George was "Killed In Action" in the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia during the war.
