Helen Marie Larson was born May 14, 1942 to Leonard and Fern (Rummel) Larson on the family farm near Sweetwater, Nebraska. She attended school in Ravenna, Nebraska, graduating from Ravenna High School in 1959. After high school, Helen enrolled in beauty school in Lincoln, and became a licensed beautician/cosmetologist.
On June 18, 1961, Helen married Darwin C. Glinsmann at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. They lived in Omaha, and then Lincoln, before moving to Gibbon in 1970. Helen was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney, serving as its administrative assistant for 12 years until her retirement in June 2002. Helen was always active in the Church, serving in several offices both locally and in the Southern Nebraska Distrct of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also an active member of the Holy Cross Wednesday Bible Class. Among her favorite pasttimes, Helen enjoyed cross-stitching and attending her grandchildren's numerous events.
On May 4, 2010, while under care at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, the Lord called Helen home to Himself in heaven. Surviving Helen are her husband, Darwin, of Gibbon; her three daughters: Christy Botts of Garden City, Kansas; Mitzi Carter of Beloit, Kansas; and Jenny Reinking of Paola, Kansas; her eight grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; her stepfather, John Alkire, of Ravenna; her sister, Linda Schultz, of Ravenna; and her brother, Roger Wagner, of San Antonio, Texas. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a stepfather, and two brothers.
