Richard E. Wolfe, 76, of 2249 Pleasantview Drive, Ford City died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 5, 1926 in Kittanning to J. Earle and Helen M. (Zuver) Wolfe.

Mr. Wolfe was a business manager of Radio Station WKIN for two years; a teacher at the New Kensington Business School for one year; and an insurance agent, broker and public accountant for the Wolfe Agency, Inc., for 36 years.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ford City and served on the church council as secretary.

An Army Air Corps veteran he served during World War II.

He was a 1943 graduate of Kittanning High School and a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College, which is now the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

His memberships were the Ford City Business and Professional Association; BPOE, Kittanning, where he was a life member; Ford City American Legion for more than 50 years; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ford City; Ford City Kiwanis where he was a member of the board of directors, secretary and president and was Lt. Governor of Division Seven and chairman of numerous state committees; was public relations director for seven years all at the state level; public relations director serving 10 states for Kiwanis International; March of Dimes, served as chairman in Ford City for some years: distributed cans to businesses; chairman of dances with the theme: "Let Us Dance So Others May Walk"; Cancer Association: special gifts chairman, one year; Mental Health Association, Kittanning, was a member of the original committee that founded the local association; United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Kittanning, where he was a charter member; Armstrong County Firemen's Association; and Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association.

Survivors include his wife or 53 years, Alma (Milito) Wolfe, whom he married July 30, 1949; one son, Rick Wolfe of Ford City; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Marisa Wolfe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Cynthia A. Wolfe.

WOLFE - Friends of Richard E. Wolfe, 76, of 2249 Pleasantview Drive, Ford City, who died Aug. 6, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where a Wake Service will be held at 2:15 p.m. A Christian Burial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ, Prince of Peace Church, Ford City with the Rev. Edward Lewis officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manor Township. Arrangements by Welch.
