Thomas Allen
Funeral services for Thomas Richard Allen were held on Saturday, Nov 12 at 2 p.m. at the Gerster Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Kiefer officiating. Music was furnished by the church choir with Beryl Kiefer as accompanist. Casket bearers were Ross Allen, Pat Allen, Norman Shryer, Artie Nutt, Irvin Allen and Harold Allen. Burial was in the King's Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Goodrich Funeral Home.
Thomas Richard Allen, son of Archie and Sarah Shelton Allen was born Nov. 8, 1885 in St. Clair County and died Nov 10, 1977 at the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola, MO. He was one of the oldest member of the Gerster Baptist Church and had served as song leader for forty years.
On Nov 28, 1915 he was married to Laura Alma Burns and the couple had one daughter Oleva Faye. He was engaged in farming as long as his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Laura of the home; one daughter, Oleva Slocum and son-in-law Harve Slocum of Osceola; two grandchildren, Wilbur Slocum and wife Anita of Clinton, Mo.; Alma Faye Elton and husband Bill of Lowry City; three great-grandchildren, Stacy, Pam and Jill; two sisters Ora Shryer of Weaubleau, Mo and Dovie Hall of Humansville, Mo. Also many other relatives and friends.
