George O. Marcotte 67, George, one of Red Lake County’s well known farmers, died suddenly last Friday in the office of the Armour packing plant at Grand Forks. (North Dakota)
He and Mrs. Marcotte had taken several head of cattle to the plant and while waiting for payment, he was stricken with an embolism or blood clot. He was rushed to the hospital but he died on the way. The death of Mr. Marcotte came as a shock to his family and friends in this community as he had enjoyed good health during his life. The deceased was born in Ottertail County on June 24, 1884, and came to Red Lake County with his parents [Joseph and Caroline (Olson) Marcotte] when he was a young boy and settled on a farm near Dorothy. He was married on November 2, 1909 to Miss Clarena Berry at Louisville. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Theodore Delorme. Three children preceded him in death. The deceased had made his home on a farm four miles east of Red Lake Falls for a good many years. Five sisters also survive--Mrs.Gusta DeLoe of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Frank Ranch of Battleford, Sask.: Mrs. Al Prompson of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.: Mrs. S. Sutton of Brooklyn, N. Y.: and Mrs. William Wendt of Minot, N. D. Three brothers survive - Paul and John of St. Paul and William of this city... Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Dorothy’s Catholic church with Rev. Paul Cardin celebrant at the solemn requiem high Mass and Rev. William Keefe, deacon and Rev. Herve Delisle, O. M. I. of St. Boniface, Manitoba. Rev. Delisle is conducting services at St. Joseph’s church in absence of Rev. Victor Cardin who is on a vacation. Pall-bearers were Charles Schmidt, Jos. Hance, Henry and William Casavant, Eugene Grenier and John Helm. Out -of-town relatives and friends attending the final rites were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marcotte, Mr. and Mrs. John Marcotte, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Berry, Mrs. Leo Audette, and son, and Mrs. Paul Audette, all of St. Paul. Mrs. Ernestein Berry, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Rude, Ernest Berry, Mr. and Mrs. H. Laddie and Roy Rude of Thief River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Nick De Boer, Miss Edna Berry, Lawrence Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Amiot, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Amiot of Crookston and Mr. and Mrs. John Passa of Drayton, ND.
