Born Fernmount, Bellingen, New South Wales. Son of D.J. and Eliza McGill of Newcastle, New South Wales. A printer prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 20 May 1916. He embarked from Sydney for overseas on 30 September 1916 aboard HMAT "Aeneas" (A60). He was killed in action at Peronne, aged 22 years. 55th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. - Service No. 2469
