"Military Medalist's Death. HOW THE HONOR WAS WON
Mr. N. Cameron, of Armidale, has received the following particulars of how his nephew, Sergt. E. J. Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Corps, of Park-road, St. Peters, won the M.M. The official notification states: "During the attack on the morning of August 11, near Framerville, Sergt. Corps took charge of a platoon, and on passing through the village of Raincourt the company was held up by machine-gun fire. He immediately, with three volunteers, charged the post, killing three and capturing the remainder of the crew, thus allowing the advance to continue. Throughout the operation Sergt. Corps : did excellent work, and gave a fine example to the men under his command." Sergt.
