John Oliver Neal, 82-year-old pioneer of Coos County, died Thursday afternoon at the Coquille Hospital. Mr. Neal, who was born at Scio, Oregon, October 2, 1852, had been ill three weeks.
Survivors of the deceased are four daughters, Mrs. Grace Segmin, Ontario Canada; Mrs. Letha Herman, Broadbent; Mrs. Mary L. Carman, Gaylord; Mrs. Wave Newbury, Gaylord; three sons, Oliver K. Neal, Earlimart, California; James D. and John M. Neal of Broadbent; one brother, W. A. Neal of Dos Palos California; and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Barnett of Empire.
Elder Charles Barklow of Myrtle Point officiated at the funeral services, assisted by the Gano Funeral Home from the Brethern Church at Myrtle Point, 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Interment was in the Neal Cemetery located on the Neal farm.Coos Bay Times, August 24, 1935
