Obituary
Abraham Dennis Drake was born in New Jersey, Sept. 14th, 1828. Died near Middle River, Iowa, Jan. 11th, 1908. Mr. Drake was married to Maria Crumrine in Washington county, Pa., Oct. 14th, 1852.

In the year 1858 they removed to Madison county, Iowa, locating in Webster township, where both spent the remainder of their lives. Five children were born to them, two sons and three daughters. These are all living except one daughter who died in infancy. Mrs. Drake died in Sept. 1906. The sons and daughters remaining are W. W. Drake, of Winterset; John Drake, near Creston; Mrs. John Sawyer, of Middle River, and Mrs. Emma B. Sheely, of Endicott, Nebr. These were all present at the funeral, as was also Mrs. Mack Hockenberry, of Winterset, a sister of the deceased.

Mr. Drake united with the M.E. church about forty years ago and continued a consistent member until his death. His cheerful manner and kind, Christian spirit will be a blessed memory to all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. E. Trueblood, in the Middle River M.E. church, Monday, Jan. 13th, 1908. The text of the funeral sermon was Heb. 11, 10,---" He looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God."

The interment was in the Roberts cemetery.
