Fred was enlisted in the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment) 75th Battalion, and travelled to England - ironically, aboard `Empress of Britain` the very ship which had brought Fred & his family to America in 1910. He was sent to France, and was killed at Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917. Army Service No: 213124. Rank: Lance Sergeant.
