THE PARIS NEWS Thu., Oct. 8, 1992, p.12A. '...Paris' oldest resident, age 109, died Thu. morning at Cherry Street Annex. Services at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Sat., Oct 10, with Rev. Mike Fortenberry and Rev. O.U. Slaton. Born in Edwards Co., IL, she moved to Leonard, TX at the age of 2 and met her future husband, John W. Thrasher at a church meeting in Trenton in 1896. They Married 4 years later and moved to the Jennings community of Lamar County where they farmed until his death in 1932. She moved to Paris in 1934 and remained an active church member, homemaker and gardener until well past her 105th birthday. She was a charter member of East Paris Baptist Church and had sewed more than 100 quilts as a member of the church's quilting club. She said in the Paris News feature in 1990 that she had only been to a doctor 3 times in her lifetime. She credited her long life and good health to 'taking care of herself and living a good Christian life.' Surviving are 3 sons, W.R. Thrasher and Jesse Thrasher of Paris and Roy Thrasher of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Raymond, James and Paul Thrasher.'
