Son of Edward and Sarah Jane Williams of Hawthorn Cottage, Sorrento, Victoria. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 12 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne for active service abroad on 8 February 1916 per HMAT "Warilda" (A69). He died of wounds received in action at the 20th Casualty Clearing Station, France, aged 27 years.
