The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SHARPE, ARTHUR NOEL. Lieutenant. 5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Huddersfield 30.12.1888. Son of Arthur Calvert, of the firm of Messrs Sharpe and Sharpe, Chartered Accountants, Market Place, Huddersfield, and Mary Sharpe, 'Lynton', Mountjoy Road, Edgerton, Huddersfield. Educated Huddersfield College School. Employed as a printer's manager. Was a playing member of the Huddersfield Cricket Club and Captain of the Y.M.C.A. football club. Single. Enlisted 9.8.1914. Commissioned in the 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment in December, 1914. Embarked for France, 4.7.1915. Reported wounded and missing, 3.9.1916, in the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt and afterwards presumed to have been killed on that date.
