Private John Albert Andrew Caskanette, Royal Canadian Regiment. Born on the 9th of August 1923 in Greenock, Ontario and killed in action on the 25th of July 1943.

John was killed in action between Leonforte and Nissoria and buried in a field grave north of Leonforte.

John was only 19 years old when he got killed in action. He lived in Hanover, Ontario with his parents. He had five brothers and five sisters. Two of his brothers served overseas in the Canadian Army.
When John enlisted on the 20th of May 1941 in London, Ontario he lied about his age. He said his name was Caskanett and his date of birth was 22nd of May 1922. Eventually it turned out he wanted to join the Army that he tried to be older than he officially was.
