Buried, Shell Green Cemetery.
'The late Captain Thomas Joseph Brundrit familiarly known to his old school
friends, both at the Normal and Grammar Schools, as "Tibble," was the only son
of the late Mr William Brundrit, Clayfield. A young man of great ability, both mentally and physlcally, letters received from him give proof of his physical fitness. He had been in the trenches since May, had had no spell, and was not one day off duty since leaving Brisbane. He was a fellow of the Institute of Accountants, Queensland. In the football field, and at rowing, golf, etc, he excelled.' 'Mrs. C. Brundrit, Christian-street, Albion, Brisbane, mother of the late Captain Thomas Joseph Brundrit, who

letter from the official secretary of the Governor-General (Sir R. Munro
Ferguson) :—" I am desired by his Excellency the Governor-General to trans-
mit to you the following message from their Majesties the King and Queen: 'The King and Queen deeply regret the loss you and the army have sustained by the death of your son in the service of his country. Their Majesties truly sympathise with you in your sorrow.' Inaddition to the above message, I am desired by the Governor-General to ex-
press their Excellencies' heartfelt sympathy with you on the death of this gallant officer, who fell fighting for his country and Empire."

A heart that felt all others' woe,
A brain most swift to plan ;
A soul too big to fear a foe,
In brief-a man. [3]
