Malcom was the son of Philip and Eliza Ann Dalton of Cedar Hill, Lynsted, Sittingbourne, Kent aged 29 when he was Killed In Action on 9 Nov, 1915.

He served in the 1/1 Royal East Kent Yeomanry (East Kent Mounted Rifles) a Territorial Regiment which was mobilized on 4 Aug 1914 on the outbreak of the war. They were dismounted and sailed from Liverpool on 24 Sept on the RMS Olympic arriving at Lemnos on 1 Oct 1915. They landed on Gallipoli on 7 Oct 1915 as part of the 42nd East Lancashire Division. His burial records indicate he Died of Wounds and his burial was officiated by Rev. M.W. Robertson at Pink Farm Cemetery.

In the 1891 census of Lynsted, Kent Malcom is listed as 4 years old residing with his parents Philip a 39 year old fruiter and cow keeper and Eliza Dalton 41 and Malcom's siblings: Frederick 14, Cecilia 13, and Sarah 11. In the 1901 census Malcom is 14.

Malcom's will was probated on 14 Sept 1916 and his mother
Eliza was the primary beneficiary and his father Philip secondary.
