Lieutenant Leonard Francis Cremen, 14th King George's Own Ferozepore Sikhs, Indian Army. He was the son of Major Jeremiah A and Agnes Cremen, of 13 Milner Avenue, Bury, Lancashire. Baptised on 10 Dec 1888 in Nowshera, India (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Indian Army (unattached list) as a 2nd Lieutenant on 20 Jan 1909. He spent his probationary year with a British Regiment in India. Posted to the 14th Sikhs on 30 Mar 1910. Promoted to Lieutenant on 20 Apr 1911. The Regiment was stationed at Peshawar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan) at the start of WW1. They were mobilised on 12 Oct 1914 and sent to Egypt, on the way defeating a Turkish Force at Sheikh Syid, Yemen. In Egypt they helped defeat a Turkish attempt to seize the Suez canal 26 Jan -4 Feb 1915. On 26 Apr 1915 they embarked for the landings in the Dardanelles with 29th Indian Infantry Brigade, landing at Helles from 1 May 1915. Lieutenant Cremen was killed in action at Gully Ravin on 4 Jun 1915 during the Third Battle of Krithia. He was buried in Pink Farm Cemetery, Gallipoli, Çanakkale, Turkey.

He is also commemorated on the Indian Army WW1 Memorial in the Royal Memorial Chapel, RMA Sandhurst, Camberley, Surrey Heath Borough, Surrey, England.
