Surname: McGaffey, Drummond, Miles

David McGaffey was born in Ohio Dec. 18, 1826, and died at his home in Pittsburg, August 18, 1909. He was married to Jane Drummond May 12, 1849. To this union were born three children, C. H. of Keosauqua and A. W. of Pittsburg and Mrs. Addie Miles of Fairfield. He moved to this community in 1859. He was a member of Co. G. in the Mexican war. Besides his wife and three children he leaves 10 grand children and nine great grand children. He last words were, it is well with my soul. For a number of years his favorite song has been: "My Home is There."
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Krenmyre of Mt. Zion, and he was laid to rest in the Pittsburg cemetery.

Our dear old grandfather has gone,

Only to await the resurrection morn,

He has not gone away to stay,

For we shall meet him on that great day.
