James, son of Solomon & Catherine (Price) Davisson of Jasper County, Indiana, twice enlisted for service to the Union during the Civil war, mustering out on October 21, 1865 as a Sergeant in Company G, 9th Regiment, Indiana Infantry.
He was 5' 11", fair complexion, gray eyes, dark hair.
He took up the profession of veterinary surgeon, and moved to Hamilton, Ohio, before being admitted to Dayton Soldiers' Home. He did not marry.
He was survived by nephew J. K. Lintner of Medaryville, Indiana, and niece Ella Bardwell of Shelby, Indiana.
