Son of Victor Vanier & Elizabeth Vanier.

Ernest served as a Private, 111th Engineer Combat Battalion, 36th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Albany County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1942 in Albany, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.

Ernest was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the "Bronze Star" and the Purple Heart.
