PFC. UNO V. TERVO KILLED IN FRANCE: IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP SOLDIER SURVIVED BY 5 BROTHERS, 2 SISTERS.
Pfc. Uno V. Tervo, 30, of Ironwood township, was killed in action in France January 10, according to word received by his brother, Onnie Tervo, of the township.
Pfc. Tervo, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Tervo, was born in February, 1914 in the township and attended the public schools there.
He was inducted into the army in December, 1942 and received his training at Camp Chaffee, Ark., and later at Camp Campbell, Ky., serving with the 14th Armored division. He was sent overseas in September, 1944.
Surviving are five brothers, Chaplain Emil, in the Southwest Pacific; Cpl. Charles, in the European theater of operations; the Rev. William, of Aberdeen, Wash.; Wayne of Detroit; and Onnie, of Ironwood township; and two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Melander, of Saxon; and Mrs. Jacob Johnson, of Detroit.
