Entered service, August 28, 1942, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Attended OCS and commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant ( date unknown ).


He was assigned to the 101st Cavalry Regiment. December 21, 1943, the 101st Cavalry Regiment reorganized into the 101st & 116th Reconnaissance Squadrons, 101st Cavalry Group. He was assigned to the 116th Reconnaissance Squadron, 101st Cavalry Group.


The 101st Cavalry Group shipped out for Europe, October 31, 1944, from New York Harbor, docking at Liverpool, England, November 13, 1944. In January 1945 the Group landed in France and began combat operations, February 9, 1945.


On February 25, 1945, he was wounded by artillery fire, an subsequence die of his wounds. 2nd Lieutenants Kupferschmidt, Pierce and Sergeant Walter Mennel were also killed.
