Husband of Mary A. Mings & Dad of William P. Mings, Jr. who resided in Valentine, Nebraska.

William served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-17 "Pat Hand" #42-30607, 337th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Cherry County, Nebraska prior to the war.

William was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, while returning from a bombing run in the Hispano/Suisa complex, was hit by enemy ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed in Central Paris, France during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was interred, side by side, with six other members of his crew here at the Epinal American Cemetery.
