He earned the DSC and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster Distinguished Service Cross (Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: Sergeant Will A. Maples (ASN: 6275373), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company C, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 11 February 1945.
