Serving in the U.S. Army in Italy and France, Benjamin G Hall Jr., Private First Class, U.S. Army, 142nd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, was killed in action, World War II. Buried in Plot B Row 24 Grave 16, Épinal American Cemetery, Épinal, Lorraine, France. Purple Heart and Bronze Star awarded posthumously. Ben Hall Jr. was a graduate of Cooley High School in Detroit.

My Uncle Ben was a bachelor who died before I was born, he was the son of Benjamin Gilbert "Bennie" Hall Sr. (b. 1896, TN; d. 1982, MI) and Vina Jane Louise Whitlow (b. 1896, TN; d. 1981, MI). Ben Jr. had two siblings, sister Evelyn Mildred Hall (b. 1922, TN; d. 1988, FL; married Lloyd Arthur Lee) and brother Dennis Bernard Hall (b. 1924, MI; d. 2020, MI; married 1st Marion Josephine Hall, 2nd Martha Virginia Powell Moseley). The Benjamin Hall family was living in Detroit, Wayne County, MI prior to WWII.

Bennie G. Hall, Sr. served as a U.S. Army ambulance driver in France during WWI. Dennis B. Hall served as a U.S. Army medical corpsman in France and Germany during WWII.
