Joseph served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot, 99th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He was one of those known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
He resided in Brooklyn, New York prior to the war.
He graduated from flight training on February 8, 1944, at the Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama. He was deployed to Italy soon after graduation.
Joseph took off in a P-51 Mustang on an escort mission to bomb radar stations in Toulon, France during the war. The mission was successful, However Joseph's P-51 was hit by enemy flak and his P-51 crashed and he was "Killed In Action". He was awarded the Purple Heart.
