He resided in Banks County, Georgia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 2, 1943 at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, with dependents.

Thomas was "Killed In Action" in France during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
