Joseph served as a Private First Class, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Coos County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 9, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in manufacturing and also as Married.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" in what was called the "Colmar Pocket" near central Alsace, France during the war.

He was awarded the "Bronze Star" and the Purple Heart.
