KIA 19-9-1944 as pilot of Supermarine Spitfire MB955 / 'Lease Fleece' / MACR 9170. Returning from a reconnaissance sortie over Germany the aircraft is believed to have been damaged by flak and crashed at Les Lavieres, 22 miles west-south-west of Dijon, France.
