Flying a P-51B he took off from East Wretham on a Ramrod mission to the Lisieux area, France. About 25 FW190s were spotted near Dreux, France and the flight started an attack on them. Then another 30 FW190s joined in and it is believed that 1355hrs they shot down Lt Allen from behind.
