Charles served as a Staff Sergeant, 773rd Field Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1941, prior to the war, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of paper and pulp and also as Single, without dependents.

Charles died in the "Line Of Duty" from injuries that were non-battle related during the war.

He had previously been awarded the Purple Heart.
