Arthur served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-25G #42-64579, 445th Bomber Squadron, 321st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 9, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Skilled mechanic and also as Married.

B-25G #42-64579 took off from Libya on a shipping mission to Naxos Harbor, Greece. They were attacked and shot down by enemy anti-aircraft fire and crashed into the sea 2 miles west of Naxos Harbor during the war.

Arthur was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
