Son of Annette M Hoffman who resided in Glendale, California.

Richard served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24H #41-28951, 514th Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in California prior to the war.

B-24H #41-28951 took off from San Pancrazio, Italy on a bombing mission to Marsdorf, Germany. They were involved in a mid-air collision with B-24J #42-109844 over the Adriatic Sea north of Vieste, Italy. The cause of the collision is unknown.

Richard was declared "Missing In Action" in this collision during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
