Charles served as a Private First Class in the 6th Infantry Battalion, 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Allegany County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 27, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as an Office Clerk and also as Single, with dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in Italy during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.

PFC. Charles John Bullick, born in 1917, was the son of John K and Mary K (Brizitus) Bullick of Midland, Allegheny County in western Maryland. Midland is 99 miles southeast of Pittburgh, Pennsylvania. He left a wife, Retha Victoria (Ferrebee), in Lonaconing, Md. Lonaconing in 2 miles southwest of Midland.

In the 1930 census 12 year-old Charles is living with his parents and siblings Peter (18), Isabel (8), Edward (6), and Rosella (4) on Railroad Street in Midland, Md. His parents were both born in Russia. His father works in a tire plant. By the 1940 census 22 year-old Charles is living with his parents and siblings Peter (28), Isabel (18), Edward (16), and Rosella (14) on Railroad Street in Midland, Md. Charles is a time-keeper in a silk plant.
Charles enlisted 27 Nov 1942 in Baltimore and was assigned to the 6th Armored Infantry Battalion of the 1st Armored Division.

The 1st Armored division was bogged down in the Apennine Mountains of northern Italy during the winter of 1944-45 prior to the spring breakout into the Po Valley.
Charles is buried next to his brother Edward John (pictured right, below) who was killed in action during the Aachen offensive in Germany the prior October.
Cumberland Evening Times (Cumberland, Maryland) – 14 Apr 1945, Sat – Page 3 – BROTHERS KILLED: Sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Bullick of Midland. Pfc. Charles J. Bullick and Pvt. Edward have both made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country. Charles, husband of Retha F. Bullick, Lonaconing, was killed on the Italian front on March 25, while his brother died in battle against the Nazis in German on October 19 of last year. Charles had been in the service since December, 1942, and Edward answered the call in February 1943.
