George served as a Second Lieutenant & Navigator on B-17G #42-31051, 349th Bomber Squadron, 100th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Carroll County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

B-17G #42-31051 took off from Station 139, England on a bombing mission over Berlin, Germany. This B-17 was hit by German anti-aircraft flak and crashed just north of Hanover, Germany during the war.

George was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
