He was a pilot with the 8th Fighter Command, 56th Fighter Group, 62nd Fighter Squadron. Stultz was flying P-47C #41-6398 on a bomber escort mission to Villacoublay, France. He was shot down by a German fighter and landed via parachute in Vreren Belgium. A local farmer, C Henri Colette, saw him come down and found him seriously wounded. Colette managed to get him to a doctor, but his injuries were too extensive and he died and was buried by the Germans on the airfield of St-Truiden. After the war his remains were moved to the Ardennes American Cemetery.
Stultz received the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
