Edward served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-17F #42-30027, 533rd Bomber Squadron, 381st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in York, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 2, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Railroad Brakemen and also as Single, without dependents.

Edward was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was hit by German flak and crashed in the North Sea three miles west of Benserseil, opposite Langeroog Island, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
