Son of Edward and Catherine Roufs who resided in Winsted, Minnesota.

He was married to Idene M. O'Hagen and they had a daughter Mary Katherine Roufs.

Darril served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-17 "Miss Mary Kay" (#43-38131), 848th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in McLeod County, Minnesota prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 30, 1943 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of miscellaneous products and also as Separated, without dependents.

Darril was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was shot down by German Flak boats in the harbor of Middelharnis, Netherlands during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
