Cause:German Fighter 6 KIA 4 POW

Sgt. Murray lost his life in " Operation Tidal Wave " one of the most daring raids of WW2. Coming in at tree top level the Traveling Circus attacks the Concordia-Vega oil refinery. The 93rd earns Presidential Unit Citation, all of the crews receive the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Flown by Lt. Milton Teltser and crew to Ploesti flying leader left wing of C force they were briefed for White III. On approach to target of opportunity White IV flack hit 2 engine. Prop on 2 engine would not feather. Attempted to divert to Turkey but 45 miles West of the target near Bucharest they were intercepted by 2 ME-109 fighters. Engine #1 hit and now put out of use and WG killed by the fighters. Forced landing near Ogrezeni due to fire. 6 of the crew killed ,4 survived and made POW.
