Kneeland served as a Staff Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-17G #42-97465, 751st Bomber Squadron, 457th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 2, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

Kneeland was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was attacked by German aircraft and crashed near Ossecken, Poland during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
