Donald served as a Private First Class, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 12, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.

Donald was declared "Missing In Action" in the Battle of the Bulge during the war.

He was awarded the "Bronze Star" with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
