Edwin served as a Captain & Pilot on B-17F #42-29941, 535th Bomber Squadron, 381st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided at 807 Berkeley Road, Wilmington, Delaware prior to the war.

B-17F #42-29941 took off, with a crew of 10, from Ridgewell, England on a combat mission over Bremen, Germany.

They were hit & shot down by ground enemy anti-aircraft fire and crashed near Bremen.

Edwin was "Killed In Action" on this mission during the war.

He had served in the Air Corps for two years and two months at the time of his death.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.

Service # O-382247

Edwin also has a "Cenotaph" in the Evergreen Woodlawn Cemetery, Factoryville, Pennsylvania.
