Charles served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B24 #41-23810, 409th Bomber Squadron, 93th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New Castle County, Delaware prior to the war.

He was born with the name " Charles Kenneth GOLDSTEIN " however when he and his brother, Gordon Morris Goldstein, joined the Army they " both " changed their last name to " GORDONI " more than likely due to possibly being captured by the German Army during the war since " Gordoni " was an Italian name instead of a Jewish name.

His brother also changed his " entire name " from " Gordon Morris Goldstein " to " Don Maurice Gordoni ".

He enlisted in the Army on November 7, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as Single, without dependents.

Charles was "Killed In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # 13124793

Charles also has a " cenotaph " ( with his birth name ) in the Jewish Community Cemetery, Wilmington, Delaware.

Son of Nathan Goldstein and Lillian Abramson Goldstein.
