Alfred served as a Private First Class, 38th Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 14, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Divorced, without dependents.

Alfred was declared "Missing In Action" in the Battle of the Bulge during the war.

He was awarded the "Bronze Star" and the Purple Heart.
