Son of Walter E. Fairley who resided in Johns, Mississippi.

David served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24J #42-100255, 512th Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Texas prior to the war.

He was first declared as "Missing In Action" when his plane was shot down by fighters during Mission 216 to Steyr, Austria. The plane crashed at St. Valentin, Austria on February 23, 1944.

David was later declared as "Killed In Action".

In the photo he is the one standing to the far right.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
